Search Suspended for Crew of the F/V Destination
Following days of extensive effort, the Coast Guard suspended its search for the F/V DESTINATION and her six crew members. The search was triggered when the Coast Guard received an emergency beacon signal from the vessel’s EPRIB early Saturday morning, February 11, 2017, near the Northwest tip of St. George Island. On arrival, the Coast Guard found debris in the area of the signal; including buoys, a life ring, tarps and an oil slick.
According to Coast Guard documentation, the vessel is owned by F/V Destination, Inc. Contrary to newspaper reports, the vessel’s owner, F/V Destination, Inc., is an Alaska registered corporation, with a registered physical address in Sand Point, Alaska.
Investigations continue to determine the fate of the vessel and crew. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family members affected by this tragedy; as well as the communities of Sand Point and King Cove.
