Insurance Review

Johnson Law, P.C.

Insurance review – 2025 is well underway and it is time to review your auto coverage. It is important to have enough insurance in case something happens. Protect yourself and your loved ones with an insurance coverage review. It is essential to have enough protection after a car accident.

Minimum Auto Insurance Requirements In Alaska

The state of Alaska requires drivers carry liability insurance. Alaska law states that drivers carry at least $50,000 of bodily injury coverage per person and $100,000 of bodily injury coverage per accident. Drivers also must carry $25,000 in property damage protection. Alaska law enforces harsh penalties against drivers who don’t have required coverages.

Drivers must also be able to prove they have insurance at all times. Failure to provide proof of insurance may result in a license suspension. Cars may also be impounded for failure to provide proof of insurance.

Although Alaska has minimum levels of auto insurance, many crashes cause damages exceeding minimum requirements. For example, a serious crash may result in long-term injuries. These kind of injuries may reduce a victim’s ability to earn a living and limit their quality of life. This circumstance requires protection beyond what an at-fault driver’s policy insures.

Insurance Review Options

Companies offer additional insurance beyond what is a requirement, such as uninsured (UM), under-insured (UIM) and medical payments coverage. These types of coverage are beyond the minimum and protect you in cases where damages exceed at-fault parties insurance available.

It is worthwhile to contact a personal injury attorney if you have been injured in an automobile accident. An attorney will review evidence in a case to establish negligence of a third-party causing injuries and assist in obtaining information about insurance coverages. If successful in court, a driver with injuries may be able to win compensation for medical bills, lost wages and other reasonable long-term care costs.
