Weather Changes Equals Automobile Maintenance

While it is true that it is the beginning of November and Anchorage has yet to see any significant, lasting snow fall, we all know that winter will arrive in Alaska. When it does arrive it will catch many off guard, but we hope with this little reminder you can prepare for winter driving conditions.

  • Mount your studded tires and if you don’t use studded tires, check your tire pressure, rotate your tires and check your tread
  • Change your windshield wipers (front and rear)
  • Check your headlights and signal lights
  • Check all your fluid levels, including antifreeze
  • Make sure you have an ice scraper and snow brush
  • Have an emergency supply of hats, gloves, blankets and other winter gear in your vehicle
  • Have an operational flashlight and flares

Winter driving in Alaska can be hazardous but if you take the time to do your part to be prepared for any unfortunate event, damages can be minimized. Have a great and safe winter season!
